Public to shape licensing policy
Licensing chiefs have launched a public consultation on their latest policy review.
The Licensing Board at Perth and Kinross Council is required to prepare and publish a Licensing Policy Statement which will guide and inform future decisions.
It is now undertaking a review in order to prepare and publish its fourth statement.
Board convener Kathleen Baird has appealed for feedback from interested parties to its draft plan. “All licensing boards must publish a statement of licensing policy,” she said.
“Boards are required to ensure their policies promote the licensing objectives which are: preventing crime and disorder; securing public safety; preventing public nuisance; protecting and improving public health; and protecting children and young persons from harm.”
She said: “The Draft Policy Statement covers a wide range of issues such as the hours for licensed premises. The board would like to hear from any interested party on possible changes to its existing policy.”
The draft statement is available on the council’s website and representations can be made in writing, by email or by calling 01738 475167.
The consultation will run until Friday August 17. Afterwards a report will be taken to board members for a final decision.
Once approved the plan will stay in effect until 2023.
