No deal: Williams not returning to McDiarmid

Welsh midfielder George Williams will not be rejoining St Johnstone.

The 22-year-old has signed for English League Two club Forest Green after his contract with Fulham ran out.

Williams spent the second half of last season on loan at McDiarmid Park and both the player and manager Tommy Wright had suggested a deal was being considered.

Williams said: “After coming down here last week, speaking to the manager and finding out a bit more about him, the chairman and the ambitions they have for the club, everything was perfect for me – I’m really looking forward to being a part of the team.”
