Car and a lorry involved in accident on the A9
One person was airlifted to hospital after a serious road accident on the A9 north of Dunblane.
Last night, the condition of the casualty, who was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, was unknown.
The collision involving a car and a lorry happened just before 1pm yesterday on the southbound carriageway near Balhaldie.
Emergency services including a helicopter, ambulance crews, firefighters and a trauma team were sent to the scene.
The southbound carriageway remained closed until after the evening rush hour.
Motorists were caught in tailbacks as the A9 was closed at Broxden roundabout in Perth.
As a result of the incident, traffic was diverted to the Edinburgh-bound M90 and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
Police are appealing for witnesses and have urged anyone with information to contact 101, quoting incident number 1704 of June 12.
Inspector Andrew Thomson from Police Scotland’s road policing unit in Stirling said: “Anyone who was on the road at the time and witnessed what happened should contact police immediately.”
