Gers could face Progres again

Rangers have a one-in-five chance of being handed a reunion with Europa League conquerors Progres Niederkorn in this season’s competitio­n.

The Luxembourg side are among five potential opponents for Steven Gerrard’s first competitiv­e match in charge.

The part-timers beat Rangers 2-1 on aggregate in the first qualifying round last season.

Uefa has published the groups which the first-round ties will be picked from in tomorrow’s draw.

Rangers could face Progres, Siroki Brijeg, Macedonian side Shkupi, Stumbras of Lithuania or Slovakians Dunajska Streda.

Aberdeen beat Siroki Brijeg of Bosnia and Herzegovin­a 2-0 away from home last season after a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie.

Like Rangers, Hibernian are seeded, but they have seven potential opponents, including Welsh side Bala Town, who face Tre Fiori of San Marino in the preliminar­y round.

Other possible foes include Levadia Tallinn, IBV of Iceland, KuPS of Finland, Latvian side Liepaja and NSI Runavik of the Faroe Islands.

Burnley and Aberdeen enter at the second qualifying round, which will also be drawn tomorrow.

● Rangers midfielder Jason Holt has been reunited with former team-mate Joey Barton at Fleetwood .

Holt was a regular member of the Gers side last season but has been allowed to join Fleetwood for the 2018-19 campaign, where he will once again team up with new Cod Army head coach Barton.

Holt has made more than 100 appearance­s for Rangers since joining from Hearts in 2015.
