Victim of Angus child abuser says she wants him to die in jail

A victim of an Angus child rapist has said she hopes he dies in jail.

The woman described 82-year-old Alexander Moore as “the most vile man to walk the planet”.

Moore, of Arbroath, was jailed for eight years last week for the horrific abuse of three young girls after a court heard he posed a “serious risk” to female children.

The victim said: “I really hope he dies in jail. He is off the streets now and can’t hurt anyone else. He is just evil.

“Alexander Moore is the most vile man to walk the planet.”

Moore’s campaign of terror occurred in Arbroath between 1982 and 2006.

A jury convicted him of a string of sexual offences against the three little girls over a 24-year-period.

He raped a child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, on various occasions at a house in Arbroath between June 2000 and July 2005.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Moore also sexually assaulted another two schoolgirls, who also cannot be identified, at a location in the town. He also repeatedly raped one of the girls.

The court heard how Moore started abusing his victims in June 1982.

He was finally brought to justice after the victims courageously spoke to police about what happened to them.

The woman said she is still haunted by the horrors that he inflicted upon them.

“It has given closure to all of us involved,” she said.

“I was very pleased with the length of sentence imposed by the judge and now I will try to move on with my life.

“The physical scars can heal but my mental health has suffered as a result of what happened.

“I’d kept this locked up for so long before everything finally came flying out during a counselling session.

“Suddenly I felt like such a weight had lifted off my shoulders.

“That’s when I decided I had to go to the police.

“Moore had to finally pay for what he put us through.”

The pervert denied all six charges and made his terrified victims relive their ordeals in court.

“He could have saved everybody the pain of going through it again but he didn’t,” she said.

“I want to praise them for giving evidence – they are absolutely the strongest women I know.

“I also want to thank the police and the judge for making sure he got the justice he deserved.”
