Proposals unveiled to develop housing in Perthshire village
Plans have been lodged for dozens of new homes in rural Perthshire.
Caledonia Housing Association (CHA) and A&J Stephen have submitted proposals to Perth and Kinross Council for a development of affordable homes at Guildtown, north of Perth.
The plan is for 20 homes for affordable rent with CHA, along with 22 private properties which will be sold by Perthbased construction firm A&J Stephen. The development will be a mix of one, two and three bedroom cottages and houses on the land at the end of Northfield Road.
Stephen already has a scheme of 24 homes in the village.
Andrew Kilpatrick, asset director for CHA, said: “Caledonia are delighted to be able to provide a range of affordable homes for rent in such a scenic and popular Perthshire village. These homes add to Caledonia Housing Association’s five-year commitment to build 1,000 new homes by 2022.”
Tom Buchanan, marketing manager at Stephen, said: “We are delighted to have formed this alliance with CHA to deliver affordable housing in what is the attractive village location of Guildtown.
“We worked through the house designs over several months to ensure we met CHA design requirements to assist them in meeting the local housing need.”
He said the homes will qualify for the Scottish Government’s Help to Buy initiative.
Caledonia recently won praise for its conversion of the old Caledonian Road School in Perth. The group is also creating homes on Newhouse Road in the city.
