£5k windfall for village groups

-

Two Perthshire villages are looking blooming great thanks to new floral displays.

Glenfarg and Duncrievie in Bloom was given £2,500 from Lochelbank Wind Farm’s community benefit fund to spruce up the two villages.

Colourful hanging baskets have been installed in the centre of Glenfarg, as well as window boxes at Arngask Primary School, while Duncrievie residents are enjoying new barrel-shaped planters with built-in water reservoirs to reduce watering time.

Glenfarg Tennis Club was also given £2,500 of wind farm cash, to refurbish artificial turf on two of the courts.

Katy Woodington, community investment manager for Innogy, the company behind the wind farm, said: “Funding a variety of projects, particularly those that bring a brighter summer and that enable residents to enjoy their surroundings is, for Innogy, an inspiring use of our renewables project community funding.”

This is the second time Glenfarg and Duncrievie in Bloom has received the grant.

Treasurer Irene Findlay said: “Glenfarg and Duncrievie are two small communities and this funding has enabled us to create a colourful and inviting environment.”
