Three people were taken to hospital following a two-car crash on the edge of Perth. The collision, just before 10.30am yesterday, brought part of the A9 to a standstill with queues of traffic stretching back several miles. One person had to be cut free from their vehicle by firefighters. The collision, involving a black Range Rover and a black Renault Kadjar, happened on the northbound carriageway, about a mile west of the Broxden roundabout. The road was closed for almost two hours, with traffic diverted along rural roads. Police Scotland took to social media to warn people travelling to the Rewind Festival and the Open to avoid the area. At one stage there was a tailback stretching for five miles. A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.25am to attend a road traffic incident near the Broxden roundabout, in Perth. “We dispatched three ambulance crews to the scene and three patients were transferred to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.” There was no indication of the patients’ condition, although their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. A fire and rescue service spokeswoman confirmed that two appliances from Perth were called to the scene. Crews used cutting gear to free one person trapped in their car, she said. The road was reopened at midday, but it took some time for traffic to clear. Police thanked motorists for their patience.
