Transport talk

-

I have heard from Brian Robertson who says: “Some time last year there was a piece in the column which mentioned Allison’s Transport. I worked as an apprentice coach painter and signwriter for Allison’s Transport in Clepington Road, Dundee in 1965.

“Your article encouraged me to organise a talk about the company, which was held at Dundee Museum of Transport in Market Mews, Market Street where I volunteer.

“It was a huge success and I have organised a further instalment, talking about the company. This will be held in F. & K. Halls at Blackness Avenue on October 20 at 7pm. The change of venue is to allow more people to come along as the initial evening’s talk was so popular.

“Tickets are available from Dundee Museum of Transport and are priced at £10. Refreshments will be provided.”

The cottage, which was fairly derelict in 1985 when the picture was taken, is near Mosstonmuir in the Forfar direction.

Our reader recalls exercising a plump, elderly St Bernard in the area, probably before the photograph was taken.

“She was everyone’s best pal,” he says, “and when she spotted a very old hen near the cottage she started to waddle towards it to sign a treaty of friendship. The hen took one look at the advancing monster and fell dead on the spot.”

Use what you need – if you have multiple lights on a room only use the ones that you need, rather than all of them.
