McGlynn looking to bring in fresh blood

- Nrobertson@thecourier.co.uk

“We have one or two irons in the fire but goalkeepers are not hanging off the end of trees. So it is still ongoing.

“We have until tomorrow night to get that done and I am hoping to bring someone in.

“Grant Gillespie will be out for at least 10 to 12 weeks with a knee injury.

“Ross Matthews is struggling and one other is really struggling, so we are looking to bring one or two in.”

Despite the injury problems, McGlynn cannot wait for tomorrow’s game at Dumbarton.

He acknowledged it will be far from easy against Stevie Aitken’s side but he is pleased to have taken over a team in a far better position to the one he inherited during his first stint at the club.

McGlynn said: “Normally when you come in you are firefighting down at the bottom of the league which was where I was 12 years ago.

“We were second bottom of the old second division. So from that point of view we are taking over in a much more positive position.

“Barry obviously had his own reasons for resigning but the team are unbeaten and are sitting in a handy position.

“But now we come into two big games with a side who were the pre-season favourites (Dumbarton) and the team that are leading the league, Arbroath.

“So a couple of difficult fixtures to end the first quarter of the season.

“I appreciate it won’t be easy at Dumbarton but we are going there to win the game.”
