RAITH ROVERS:

New manager faces injury crisis ahead of Dumbarton trip

- NEIL ROBERTSON

John McGlynn is working frantically behind the scenes to bolster his injury-hit squad before tomorrow’s League One match at Dumbarton.

The 56-year-old does not have his troubles to seek after being named as Barry Smith’s successor on Tuesday for what is his second spell in the Stark’s Park hot-seat.

On-loan Rangers keeper Kieran Wright dislocated his shoulder last week against Montrose while Grant Gillespie sustained a serious knee injury in the same match.

Fellow midfielder Ross Matthews also had to come off against the Gable Endies and is rated extremely doubtful to face the Sons with McGlynn admitting another unnamed player is unlikely to be fit.

All of which means the manager is determined to bring in reinforcements with young Celtic midfielder Regan Hendry, who had a loan spell at Stark’s last season, understood to be one of the players close to signing with Rovers once again.

McGlynn, who has been running the rule over his squad since Tuesday, said: “I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality we have and we hope to take that quality on to the pitch on Saturday.

“We have things moving but they are not 100% secured and done. We are certainly looking to bring two in and a third one who will be a goalkeeper.

“Kieran Wright is going to be a minimum of six to seven weeks out.
