Perth and Kinross attractions on the shortlist for major awards
A number of Perth and Kinross attractions have won recognition in the tourism industry “Oscars”.
Eight businesses from across the area are shortlisted for this year’s Scottish Thistle Awards in the Central, Fife and Tayside section.
The Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry is nominated for best cultural event. This year’s light show opens tomorrow.
The Copper Bear Café at The Black Watch Castle and Museum and the Thyme at Errichel Restaurant, Aberfeldy, are shortlisted for the best eating experience title.
The Black Watch Castle and Museum is also on the shortlist for best heritage tourism experience, while Anne Kinnes, the venue’s chief executive, is nominated for the regional rising star crown.
Craigmhor Lodge and Courtyard in Pitlochry is nominated for the most hospitable guest house award, while Fonab Castle Hotel and Spa at Pitlochry and the Kirklands Hotel, Kinross, are both nominated in the most hospitable hotel category.
Deanston Distillery in Doune is up for best visitor attraction and June Goodfellow from Taste Perthshire is a finalist in the category for tourism and hospitality hero.
Caroline Warbuton, VisitScotland regional leadership director, said: “Perth and Kinross is renowned for its sterling tourism offering and with so many shortlisted finalists, it’s clear the region is leading the charge when it comes to excellence.”
The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Edinburgh’s Prestonfield House Hotel on Thursday November 15.
