Businesses offer toilet facilities

Businesses have offered to help communitie­s in Crieff and Auchterard­er following the decision to close public toilets in the towns during winter.

Two firms in each town have joined the region’s comfort scheme after Perth and Kinross Council announced it would be closing facilities in James Square, Crieff and Crown Wynd in Auchterard­er.

These public toilets will not reopen until April 1.

However, toilets can now be accessed at Cafe Kisa in Auchterard­er, which is open from 9am until 5pm, Monday to Sunday, or the Niblick in Crown Street. It is open from 1-8pm Monday to Wednesday, and from 11am to 8pm Thursday to Sunday.

Meanwhile, the businesses who are helping residents in Crieff are The Crieff Food Company in the High Street/ James Square, which is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

The Red Squirrel Cafe in Crieff’s East High Street has also joined the scheme.

It is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 4pm on Sundays.

Perth and Kinross Council will continue to supply free mobile toilets for communityr­un events to supplement the public and comfort scheme facilities in an area.

The automated public toilet in Crieff’s MacRosty Park, and the convenienc­e in St Fillans, will remain open during winter, it has been confirmed.
