RACING: Margarson’s inmate still looks on good mark to complete his hat-trick

- THE FERRET

George Margarson’s PROTECTED GUEST is on a roll and should be backed in the Konig Ludwig Handicap at Windsor.

He has won his last two, both at Yarmouth and both in clear-cut style, and has shot up 11lb in the process.

However, until he is beaten he is worth following because the penny really seems to have dropped.

An easy winner of a Pontefract maiden when last seen over a year ago, his mark of 84 could prove lenient.

John Gosden’s DAMON RUNYON appeared to improve from his second run to his third and should be tough to beat getting weight off his main rival Politicise in the first division of the Prince Luitpold British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

Third at Newmarket on debut and then fourth at Kempton, he chased home Flying Dragon at Sandown last time. The winner had shown decent form in France before flopping somewhat on his British debut, but could go on to be useful so Damon Runyon might have caught a tartar.

Whenever Saeed bin Suroor brings one back off a long absence it is never off-putting, and that is the case with

GLASSY WATERS in the Ivor Laws Memorial Handicap.

Harry Fry’s BAGS GROOVE was just touched off on his fencing debut in the spring, but after a break, he should have no trouble getting off the mark in the Watch Racing UK On BT TV Beginners’ Chase at Stratford.

A talented hurdler, he could be one for something like the Grand Annual come March.
