Search continues for missing Crieff man
CONCERN: Martyn Cruickshank, originally from the Angus area, has not been seen since Monday night
A major search operation continued last night in an attempt to trace a 42-yearold man who went missing in Perthshire.
Specialist search units, mountain rescue and search dogs have all been deployed in an effort to try and trace Martyn Cruickshank, who has been missing for almost four days.
Mr Cruickshank, who is originally from the small Angus town of Friockheim but now lives in Crieff, was last seen at around 10pm at Turretbank Drive, Crieff, on Monday.
Police last night said they are growing increasingly concerned for the former Arbroath Academy pupil.
The police spokesperson added that more than a dozen dedicated officers, specialist search units, mountain rescue and search and rescue dogs have been utilised.
Air support has also been searching the Perthshire area for the past few days looking for Mr Cruickshank.
He is described as being 5ft 9ins tall, with dark hair and of slim build. He is thought to be wearing a distinctive red Helly Hansen ski jacket.
The police spokesperson said: “We would like to ask anyone in the Crieff, Comrie and adjoining rural areas who has a shed, garage or outbuilding to check it in case Martyn has sought refuge within.
“Also, if anyone in these areas has private CCTV, please check this, or let us know you have it. Anyone who has seen Martyn since Monday, or has information that could assist us in tracing him, please phone 101.”
Strathearn councillor Rhona Brock spoke of her concern for those close to Mr Cruickshank.
She said: “I had heard the search helicopters were out on Wednesday morning too. It’s always a worry. Hopefully he is found safe and well.
“There are posters up all around the area appealing for help.”
Fellow Strathearn councillor Roz McCall added: “There will be concern in the area. Like any small town, something like this can have a big impact.”
