Loveday joins Scottish Chamber board

- ROB MCLAREN New director Colin Loveday.

Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce past president Colin Loveday has been appointed as a new director of Scotland’s largest business network.

He joins Stuart Cresswell, port manager of ABP Ports, Poonam Gupta, founder of PG Paper and Val Russell, the chief executive of Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on joining the board of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce (SCC).

Mr Loveday is the chief executive of 4G Mobile and Predict Mobile.

He said: “There has never been a more important time for businesses to become a part of the chamber movement.

As a member, I know the benefits of the chamber network first-hand, and I look forward to joining the board of Scottish Chamber of Commerce and actively engaging and supporting business growth in Scotland.”

Tim Allan, president of the Scottish Chamber, said the new directors would have the “business acumen, strategic vision and leadership” to help the chamber drive the Scottish economy forward.

“The board will continue to focus on its business growth priorities, including the acceleration of plans to rapidly expand the ability of Scottish businesses to export, tackling the stubborn challenge of skills shortages in key sectors and creating a business-friendly environment for doing business in Scotland,” he said.

“Serving leadership roles on the board of a national body like SCC is vitally important, while demanding and rewarding.

“I am grateful to all our board members for their commitment in supporting business growth in Scotland.”

Mr Loveday served as president of the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce for two years.

He was succeeded by banker Ian Collins in June.
