June raises £2,400 for Ninewells
A Perth fundraiser has presented Ninewells Hospital breast screening unit with a cheque for more than £2,000.
June Craig, a patient at the unit, donated £2,400 alongside friends and colleagues from the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Perth.
She was joined by her friends to donate the cheque.
Mrs Craig began fundraising for local charities after her late husband was diagnosed with cancer. She has previously raised money for the breast screening unit and other local charities, donating more than £100,000 across Tayside.
In 2017, she was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year Honours list for her fundraising activities.
Debbie Archibald, breast screening services manager at Ninewells Hospital, said: “We are very grateful to June for her ongoing support for the breast service.
“She has been involved in significant fundraising over the past few years.
“We would like to express our thanks to June and all of her friends and members at the Perth Ex-Servicemen’s Club who have contributed to the fundraising.
“We would also like to thank the businesses which have donated raffle prizes and paid for entertainment at some of her events.
“We are planning on using her donation to purchase some new equipment for our examination rooms, which will benefit patients who attend the clinic.”
