Bollan wants team to keep concentration

Cowdenbeath host SPFL rivals Clyde in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup and manager Gary Bollan believes his side can progress if they cut out lapses in concentration.

Bollan said: “All ties are difficult when you are drawn against a team from your own league.

“This is probably the tie of the round but Clyde will be apprehensive about it as well.”

The teams have already met this season with the Blue Brazil out to do better.

Bollan said: “We lost 2-0 at Broadwood in a game where we never defended set-pieces correctly. We did not perform at all in the first half but were better in the second. We know that if we perform like we can for the full 90 minutes then we can win.”

The Central Park men surrendered a lead at Elgin last weekend in going down 3-1, with Bollan knowing what went wrong.

He said: “For 30 minutes we were really good and scored a fine goal with Jordyn Sheerin playing a fantastic pass through for David Cox who finished well.

“However, we lost a soft goal from an individual mistake and that knocked us out of our stride.

“The team is well organised, and the players know what they have to do during a game, however mistakes are hurting us.

“If there was something to change we would work on it during training however you cannot coach against some of the mistakes we are making.

“We have talked about the need for concentration and hopefully we will get that against Clyde. If we do, then we can win.”

Goalkeeper David McGurn can play as the suspension for his red card last weekend at Elgin will be served in the next league game.

Robbie Buchanan is a doubt and on-loan Montrose striker Josh Skelly has not been given permission to play but on-loan Celtic defender Robbie Deas has.
