Blairgowrie bag snatch appeal

-

An attempted theft left a victim badly shaken in Blairgowrie.

Police Scotland is appealing for information about the attempted theft of a handbag which happened in Rattray at about 10.15pm on October 17.

A young male on a bike attempted to grab the handbag from a 28-year-old woman as she was walking along Boat Brae.

The woman was able to fend off the attacker, who left the scene empty handed. She was not physically injured, but was left shaken by the attempted theft.

Officers would like to trace a boy in his mid-teens, described as riding a bicycle, wearing a dark baseball cap over dark curly hair, and wearing black tracksuit bottoms.

He was seen heading into Rattray and may have turned into Haugh Road. He may have been in the company of another person, also on a bicycle.

The police also wish to contact a number of other potential witnesses, who may have information about the attempted theft.

They would like to speak to an older couple who were in the street at the time walking a small dog and a young male who was standing outside the Angus Hotel around 10pm in the evening.

A police spokesperson said: “If you have any information which could assist our inquiries, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.”
