Letters to Pitfour residents in bid to improve parking situation
Residents of Pitfour in St Madoes are being asked to come up with ideas for how they would solve a local parking problem.
Conservative councillor Angus Forbes has handed out leaflets to homes following a series of complaints about vehicles blocking driveways.
Householders have objected to footballers and fans of local amateur side Pitfour parking on pavements.
The number of cars left on the street has made it difficult for residents to park outside their own homes.
Earlier this year an ambulance was unable to get through the streets due to the number of parked vehicles.
Pavements around Pitfour are due to be replaced next year and Mr Forbes has now written to locals in the hope they can work with him on finding a solution to the problem.
He said: “I would urge residents of Pitfour to respond to my letter and offer suggestions on the right way forward as soon as possible.
“Time is running out to get any infrastructure works in before the pavement is replaced.
“Only by listening to the residents who are directly affected can we find the right solution that suits the majority of people.”
He said it was good news for the area that Pitfour were doing well and attracting large crowds to their matches.
“We need to encourage people to exercise and stay healthy but they must do that whilst respecting the needs of residents,” he added.
“I am hopeful that with further engagement with the club as well as some enforcement measures we can resolve this matter.”
