Tayside and Fife Archaeological Committee (TAFAC) hold their annual conference on November 3 at St Matthew’s Church, Tay Street, Perth, from 9.45am to 4.45pm.
Speakers are drawn from community heritage groups, local and national museums and archaeology companies, all of whom will report on archaeological work carried out in Perthshire and Kinross, Angus and Fife over the last year.
Speakers at the event include Steven Black – Cailleach and Bodach Stones in Rural Perthshire; Derek Hall – Many coloured habits – rediscovering the friaries of medieval Scotland; Mark Hall – Taking a line for a walker: an initial look at the figurative Pictish stone from Tulloch, Perth; Fraser Hunter – Silver jigsaws: making sense of the Roman hoard from Dairsie, Fife; Angela Johnston – The development heritage app.
Others are John Johnston – Recent finds from Angus and District within ANGUSalive museums; Gavin Lindsay – The Perth and Kinross Archaeological Research Framework: a brief introduction; Cathy MacIver – Kings Seat: Initial results from survey and excavation in 2017-2018; David Strachan – Early Medieval settlement in upland Perthshire: Excavations at Lair, Glenshee 2012-17 and, finally, Michael Stratigos – Living on water: island dwelling on Loch Tay 800-400 BC.
Tickets, which can be bought at the door, cost £15 and include refreshments (but not lunch).
