Sport award for Scone primary
A Perth school has been presented with a prestigious award for innovation and achievement in delivering school sport.
Staff and pupils at Robert Douglas Memorial Primary in Scone received their sportscotland Gold School Sport Award yesterday.
Headteacher Lynne Lambert said: “We believe that physical education, physical activity and sport are important factors in the school curriculum.”
Stewart Harris, chief executive of sportscotland, said the team should be extremely proud.
“Not only have they put physical education and sport at the heart of their school and local community, but they have managed to do so in a way that encourages all pupils to engage in physical activity whilst having fun at the same time,” he said.
Robert Douglas Memorial Primary is now one of 284 Gold School Sport Award schools.
Sixteen other schools in Perth and Kinross were honoured with gold, silver or bronze distinctions by sportscotland in the latest round of recognition.
They were Abernethy Primary, Dunning Primary, Perth Academy, Community School of Auchterarder, Crieff High, Letham Primary, Milnathort Primary, Our Lady’s Primary, Perth High, Portmoak Primary, Madderty Primary, St John’s Academy, St John’s RC Primary, Methven Primary, St Madoes Primary and Tulloch Primary.
