Dance studio hosts local events
A dance company is planning a St Andrews Day celebration in Perthshire.
Slanjayvah Danza will be hosting events in Rait as it prepares to premier its latest show at next year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
The “Scotland meets Spain meet Yorkshire” dance show tells the story of three friends and how they communicate.
Artistic director Jen Wren, who is from Perthshire, said: “I’m thrilled to be developing this work. It’s the first time we have had such widespread support across Scotland with many of the supporters, including local community members, being involved in the application and planning process.
“I’m very lucky to be working with a wide and diverse group of new and experienced collaborators to continue researching and developing new innovative work, influenced by the traditional arts of both Scotland and Spain.
“This part of our path is to focus on the Scottish heritage and cultural elements required for the artistic cauldron, providing the Celtic spices required to properly brew new work, with fierce percussive dance, traditional foot-stomping music, tender moments and a good old giggle.”
Workshops and other events will take place at Annat Hall, Rait in late November. A St Andrews Day Celebration – with artists from Scotland, Spain, the USA and Switzerland – will be held on December 1.
