Crowned Eagle ready to swoop for elusive win

RACING: Botti’s charge looks ready to end long wait for another win

- THE FERRET

CROWNED EAGLE can claim his first victory since March in the 32Red Floodlit Stakes at Kempton.

Marco Botti’s charge has been relatively lightly campaigned this term, with just five starts through the summer, but he has shown glimpses of form in those limited outings.

His most recent effort was particularly commendable, finishing two lengths behind Thundering Blue in a Group Three in Sweden in September.

While he never looked like troubling the winner, that was a decent run considering Thundering Blue has two Group One places to his name this season.

The four-year-old had also shown up well in the likes of the Old Newton Cup during the summer months, so it is easy to see how his rating has climbed to 110 ahead of this Listed heat.

Proven on the surface having won the Rosebery Handicap earlier in the season, Crowned Eagle makes plenty of appeal ahead of what could be a profitable winter for him.

MUNEYRA let supporters down when sent off odds-on last time out, but can make amends in the 32Red.com Fillies’ Handicap.

She broke her maiden at the second time of asking and was all the rage for a novice heat at Chelmsford last month.

However, she just could not find the necessary pace to reel in the winner that day and a move to the handicap sphere seems to make sense.

CLOUDLAM can also hit the mark in the Breeders Backing Racing EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes.

She finished fourth on her debut in a race that has worked out well and was far from disgraced when second on her latest start at Hamilton.

Switching to fillies’ only company and dropping to a mile should play in her favour.

ROLL THE DOUGH gets the nod in the HFT Forklifts Chase at Hereford.

The Philip Hobbs-trained nine-yearold won successive races at Newton Abbot in September before finishing fourth at Stratford last month.

He needs to raise his game to rediscover the winning trail but is capable of doing so.
