Early goal for Glenrothes but visitors hit right back

EAST REGION CUP: Fauldhouse take control in second half to collect points

Glenrothes suffered a 3-1 defeat against Fauldhouse United at Park View in the Thorntons Property East Region Cup.

Ryan Smillie put the home side in front on 15 minutes but John Martin equalised from the penalty spot a minute later.

A second-half double from David O’Donnell, on 63 and 79 minutes, saw the West Lothian side take control and go on to take the three points from the Section G clash.

A goal in each half saw Thornton Hibs win 2-0 at home against Kennoway Star Hearts in a Section H Fife derby.

Matthew Robertson put Hibs in front on the half-hour mark and Daniel McNab struck with 15 minutes to go to secure another victory for Craig Gilbert’s men.

Lochgelly Albert were taken apart by Premier League South leaders Pumphersto­n in Section J.

Andy Healy’s side were thrashed 6-0 with four goals coming in the second half.

Kinnoull romped to a 7-1 win over Rosyth in Section K.

Ben Ragen scored a hat-trick alongside goals from Pat Brown, Fraser Wilson, Ben Moffat and Tom Whyte for Alan Cameron’s side, all after Conor Drury had equalised Ragen’s opener for the visitors.

Loch ore Welfare made it three wins in a row under new boss James Adam as they won 2-0 against Kirkcaldy YM at Denfield Park. Jamie McNeish scored both goals as Welfare took initial control of the section that also includes Livingston United.

Tayport parted company with manager Charlie King and his assistant Daryn Smith during the week but it got no better for the Fife side as they went down 3-2 at home to Downfield in Section C.

Dayle Robertson put Tayport ahead on 18 minutes but the home side were reduced to 10 men on 37 minutes when Craig Sturrock brought down Paul Blackwood in the box and was sent off. Bryan Duell stepped up to slam home the penalty to equalise.

Three minutes later it was 2-1 to the Spiders through Conor McLeod and the visitors led at the break.

Tayport equalised within five minutes of the restart through Robertson again and when Downfield were also reduced to 10 men when Jordan Garden was sent off it looked like Tayport would go on to win it.

Downfield had other ideas and McLeod scored what proved to be the winner with five minutes remaining.

Dundee Violet put a beleaguere­d Coupar Angus to the sword at Foxhall Park, running out 6-0 winners with three goals either side of half-time.

A late penalty from Matty Adam snatched a point for Blairgowri­e after Lochee Harp had led twice at Downfield Park.

Sam McDonald had initially put Harp in front only for an own goal to level things up.

McDonald scored a second to restore the lead but, with Harp looking like they would take the points, Adam kept his cool from the spot.

Scone Thistle blew Brechin Vics away in the first half at Farquharso­n Park.

Stephen Moon, Andrew McKenzie, Martin Strachan and Darren Gray put Scone 4-0 up inside 24 minutes.

Further goals came from Gray, Ross Mitchell and Sean Whitworth.

New burgh’ s 100% home record came to an end with a thump as they went down 3-0 to Bathgate Thistle.

Robbie Feeney scored twice for the visitors with the third coming from an own goal.
