Grove Menzieshill fire in seven

-

Grove Menzieshill moved into second place in the men’s National League Division 1 with a 7-0 defeat of Gordonians.

Doubles for Cammy Golden, Aidan McQuade and singles for Gav Tomlinson, Jamie Carnegie and Albert Rowling proved too good for the Aberdeen team.

Western Wildcats and Hillhead also won but by narrower margins to be third and fourth on goal difference.

Grange strengthened their position at the top of the first division with their seventh victory and so put added pressure on the chasing teams.

Cammy Fraser, Dan Coultas and Robbie Shepperdson gave Grange a 3-0 lead before a late strike by Kelburne.

That defeat leaves Kelburne firmly in the relegation play-off places, but it would not take much for them to turn that round as their team rebuilding continues.

Perthshire picked up three valuable points at home to St Andrews University and so moved up to seventh in Division 2 while St Andrews remain firmly in mid-table.

Mike Robertson and Stephen Dick were on target for Perthshire.

Monarchs steadily eased away from Harris having been made to wait for their first goal.

Thereafter it was one-way traffic as Callum Boag scored four, Ross Glashan two and Phil Nolan and Lewis White one each.

Erskine Stewart’s Melville still lead the way, three points ahead of Monarchs, but there must still be hope that Monarchs can turn that round with half the games still to be played.
