-

Dundee Madsons celebrated their recent move to Baldragon Academy with a double win over Falkirk Fury at the weekend.

Madsons coach Chris Kindlen was delighted with his cadet men’s (under-16) 82-58 win over the powerful Falkirk club.

“We’ve been in the new venue a month now and are delighted that BasketballScotland are to base one of their new academies there,” he said. The academies are being funded.by the Cashback for Communities scheme.

A second basketball academy is also being planned for the city.

Dunfermline Reign continued their run as the only unbeaten senior men’s team in the Scottish League with a 79-65 away win over Glasgow Storm at Kelvin College on Saturday.

“We played well for threequarters of the game,” said captain Keirin Lynch. “But we struggled with turnovers and Storm brought the gap back to just three points in the last quarter before we got it together again.”

Craig Ferguson top-scored for Reign with 16 points, closely supported by Jake Sirrell and Eric Potts, both with 15, and Gordon Young 14.

“We are giving all our attention now to Friday’s away game with Boroughmuir Blaze in Edinburgh,” added Lynch.

Blaze have lost only twice and are still in the race after beating Stirling Knights 96-77 at Crags SC.

St Mirren, who are on just one loss, inflicted a first league defeat on Edinburgh Kings, 87-68, at the Lagoon SC, Paisley.

Cumbernauld’s Lady Rocks, ably assisted by former Tayside players Yhana Van Wees and Kat Kane, defeated Glasgow Fever 55-40 to keep their edge in the Scottish Women’s League.
