Christmas tree festival returns

-

People in Pitlochry are being invited to decorate a Christmas tree to raise the profile of the cause closest to their hearts.

Members of the Pitlochry Church of Scotland are inviting local businesses, voluntary organisations, charities and families to bring their freshly-decorated trees to the church, where they will be displayed for two days.

Entrants can decorate their trees in a way which advertises, or promotes, their own interests. Or the decorations can suggest support for a particular charity or cause.

A Christmas carol concert on the evening of December 2 will mark the end of the festival and reveal the winner of the best tree competition.

A church spokesperson said: “Come along and visit the church and enjoy what should be a magical, colourful, interesting and innovative display of decorated Christmas trees, all illustrating different themes captivating the hearts and imaginations of children and adults alike.

“There will be a festival craft and produce market, refreshments and children’s crafts.”

The event will raise money for Help for Heroes – supporting serving and veteran members of the armed forces and their families.

One of Scotland’s largest mental health charities, Penumbra, which works to promote mental health and wellbeing, will also receive a donation from the festival.
