Dark Blues urged to build on Dens draw

-

Dundee boss Jim McIntyre is looking for further signs of progress from his players when they travel to face Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday, writes Neil Robertson.

The Dark Blues finally ended a run of five consecutive defeats when they drew with St Mirren at Dens before the international break.

It was Dundee’s first point since McIntyre took over at the club and he is hoping the team can build on that result.

However, he is under no illusions about how difficult a task it will be against Neil Lennon’s side who will be looking to bounce back strongly after losing their two previous games.

When asked if he had seen signs of steady progress from his players, McIntyre said: “Without a shadow of a doubt.

“It has been taken on a wee bit from the Motherwell game and then even more positive in terms of the St Mirren performance.

“It is just about trying to turn that and the small margins into points.

“But we know we are facing a top side in Hibs.

“They are an exciting team to watch and have a lot of attacking threat.

“We have to go there and make sure we are putting them under pressure.

“You are going to have peaks and troughs throughout any season but with them being at home Lenny will have them fired up.

“We know they have good players and they will be looking to take maximum points.

“But for us, the encouraging signs have been there and we want try and build on the St Mirren result.”
