Event will provide support and advice to people with sight loss

-

People with sight loss in Perthshire will be able to get expert advice at a free vision impairment event this month.

Two organisations which provide support locally will come together in Blairgowrie to host a vision hub.

The session will take place on Monday at the Royal Hotel from 10.30am to 2pm.

Representatives from Scottish War Blinded and the Macular Society will offer advice to people with sight loss on how their services can help them to continue living as independently as possible.

The event will also be a chance for people to meet others in a similar position and share experiences and tips.

Among those attending will be Scottish War Blinded outreach worker for Perth and Kinross, Marjory Kirkwood.

She organises lunch groups for military veterans in the area and will explain how she can help people adapt to sight changes.

Rehabilitation officers from Scottish War Blinded will also demonstrate a range of specialist equipment, which is available free of charge to military veterans suffering from significant sight loss.

The Macular Society’s regional manager, Laura Gray, will be on hand to share information on a range of services and support available in the local community.

Director of Scottish War Blinded, Rebecca Barr, said: “We are delighted to link up with Macular Society to showcase the varied support on offer to those affected by sight loss in Perthshire. When it comes to a sight loss condition, everyone’s experience is different, and we look forward to meeting visitors at the vision hub to ensure they are getting the best, most appropriate support available.”
