Art gallery co-founder June Paladini , aged 78

June Paladini, the co-founder of Broughty Ferry art gallery Eduardo Allesandro Studios, has died aged 78.

Well known in local business and social circles, Mrs Paladini died on November 18.

As well as her art dealings, she enjoyed success as a racing driver and was a dedicated charity supporter, who volunteered in Sri Lanka following the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004.

Born in Dundee on June 10 1940, June, whose maiden name was Farnan, attended Harris Academy.

She married Alfred Paladini in Dundee in 1961 and in 1978 the couple established the Eduardo Alessandro Studios art gallery in Broughty Ferry.

Before that she had a successful career in catering, including running SR Catering with Alfred. Its portfolio included Burger House Cafe, formerly in Nethergate, as well as outlets in Carnoustie and Aviemore.

Her varied interests included a period of motor racing, winning the ladies trophy at the Dundee Autocross at Camperdown in 1966.

She also had a lifelong passion for wildlife conservation which saw her travel extensively throughout the world.

In 2004, she and her husband supported the Dundee Mercy Bus campaign, which saw them visit Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the Boxing Day tsunami to aid the humanitarian efforts there.

Alfred died in 2016 after a short illness at the age of 79.

A memorial service will be held in the Woodlands Hotel, Barnhill, Broughty Ferry, on Wednesday December 5 at 1pm. All are invited to attend and pay their respects.

Mrs Paladini is survived by her sons Sandro, Leon and Gerrard.
