Perform in Perth open to entries
Performers and teachers are being invited to register their entries for Perth’s annual festival of music, dance and speech.
The syllabus for Perform in Perth 2019, now in its 95th year, is now available and entries close on January 18.
The competition runs from March 1 to 16 and is being staged at venues across the city, including Soutar Theatre, St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields Church, Glenearn Community Campus and Perth Concert Hall.
Entries can be made online at the official website – www. perthshire-music-festival.org. uk – and updates will go out on social media.
Festival president Eileen Waterston said: “New instrumental classes this year include marimba and we have a whole new section for baton twirling.
“The pipe band section has been expanded and we have restructured all the instrumental classes, providing more opportunities for progression, with a new initial range of classes prior to the beginners’ class.”
She added: “Another big change is the inclusion of a range of classes in Gaelic, ranging through Bible reading, prepared reading and poetry in the speech section, and solo singing and choral singing in the vocal music section.”
Among the adjudicators will be Jackie Hogg (baton twirling), Claire Frances MacNeil (Gaelic) and pipers Scott Taylor and Ross McCrindle.
