Christmas past in Perth display

-

Visitors to Perth Museum and Art Gallery will be taken on a trip down memory lane at a new exhibition exploring Christmas in Perthshire through the ages.

Organisers hope families will enjoy reminiscing about seasonal traditions and activities across the county as they take in a series of photographs and objects from the collection.

Interactive crafts will also be available to entertain children.

Culture Perth and Kinross, which runs the venue, will be serving up mince pies and candy canes to the first visitors through the doors when the exhibition opens on Saturday.

The launch will coincide with this weekend’s annual Perth Santa Run starting at the adjoining Mill Street Plaza, and bosses hope to welcome a few Santas among the crowds.

Staff from libraries and museums across Perth and Kinross will be pulling on their red and white suits to run, jog or walk around the city centre to raise money for Perth Foodbank and Culture Perth and Kinross. Members of the public can support the run at the Just Giving website.

Live performance will take place in the museum after the race, courtesy of the HorseCross Woodwind group Blow and Blast.

Organisers have thanked Dobbie’s Garden Centre in Perth for donating a Christmas tree to the exhibition.

The display will run until January 5.
