Prices from the auction ring
Caledonian Marts, Stirling, had a catalogue entry of 10,432 store lambs and feeding ewes, an excellent entry forward considering the scarcity of store lambs this year due to the beast from the east.
Lambs were shown in excellent bloom considering the wet spell.
An excellent ringside of buyers was forward with many from the north-east of Scotland and from south of the border and as far away as Wales and the Norfolk and Nottingham areas.
Store lambs 9,746 averaged £62.87 (+£6.87 on the year) selling to £99 for a Beltex.
Feeding ewes 512 averaged £38.02 (+£5.18 on the year), selling to £84 for Texels.
