-

Local players received due recognition for their efforts in a Scotland shirt when honours were handed out at Scottish Hockey’s Awards Dinner last Saturday.

Emily Dark (MJV Dundee Wanderers) was doubly successful as Player of the Year for U18 and U21 women.

Emily, 18, is a first-year student at St Andrews University, having left Kilgraston School in the summer where she was coached and mentored by former GB captain Pauline Stott.

The talented youngster was recently selected for the GB Elite Development Programme, making her debut in China last month.

Grove Menzieshill’s Cammy Golden scooped the men’s U21 Player of the Year award.

The 19-year-old second year Sport & Exercise Science student at Abertay University is a former pupil of Dundee High School and Loretto School (Musselburgh).

Player of the tournament and Scotland’s top scorer at the World Series Open in Portugal were the forerunners to striking gold with the GBU21s at last month’s Johor Cup in Malaysia, where he also picked up the man of the match accolade against Australia.

In other categories Alex Wilson (Perthshire HC) won U16 Boys’ Player of the Year.

Olympic and World Cup umpire Sarah Wilson (Grove Menzieshill) headed the Official of the Year list.
