We must learn from our mistakes, says Young

-

Darren Young wants his players to ensure they do not give visiting Stranraer any encouragement to jump above them in the League One table.

The Fifers went down 2-0 at home to Montrose last weekend and Young knows a poor start handed the initiative to the Gable Endies.

He said: “We were just two minutes in and we had given them something to hold on to by letting a player advance and then drill a shot into the net.

“We were then on top for a while but gave away a penalty and it was game over.

“I watched the game back and we actually created a lot of chances, especially just after half-time.

“But my overall feeling was one of disappointment. We made poor errors and we have to learn from them, starting against Stranraer.”

Young knows his team’s place in the play-off pack is now under threat. However, that has stiffened his resolve to get back on track.

He said: “Last Saturday was a chance to consolidate in the top four and a chance to move 12 points clear of Montrose.

“We are only six points ahead of them now and we face a Stranraer team who will be doing everything they can to jump above us in the table.

“They are coming here boosted by beating Forfar last weekend.

“Luke Donnelly and Ian Smith are very dangerous attackers and PJ Crossan adds a lot of value as well, so we cannot afford to make mistakes.

“I’m considering making a tactical change that will solidify us a bit more, when we are not playing as fluently.”

Chris Kane is the only injury doubt.
