Campbell’s praise for hat-trick hero

-

Arbroath’s bid for League 1 glory is being driven by relentless team spirit, assistant boss Ian Campbell has insisted.

The Gayfield side are a massive 13 points ahead of nearest rivals Raith Rovers after beating Forfar 3-2 at Station Park on Saturday thanks to a Bobby Linn hat-trick.

The Lichties are the only unbeaten side in Scottish league football, picking up 42 points from a possible 48 so far this season.

“All credit to the players and their attitude towards winning. They are a marvellous set of players to work with,” said Campbell.

“Nobody could deny the team spirit that we have got and that we have got goals throughout the team.”

Campbell was delighed with their sixth straight win over Jim Weir’s Loons – and singled out hat-trick hero Linn for special mention,

“That’s 16 or 17 goals he has got this year and he was certainly on fire against Forfar,” he said.

“Whenever he gets on the ball, defenders get a bit of a fright.

“He has so much pace and guile, he is always going to cause trouble. I thought it was a really hard local derby.

“I think Forfar can take a fair bit out of the game because they worked hard to stop us playing.

“But we are happy with the result and the three points. I would have been disappointed if we got beat but it was just a great game.”

The Lichties are away to Airdrieonians this Saturday before a massive clash with Raith Rovers at Gayfield on December 22.
