Perthshire recycler and festive firm in line for national prizes
Two Perth and Kinross firms have been nominated for independent Scottish business awards.
Remake Scotland in Crieff and Corporate Christmas Tree Company Ltd in Dunkeld are up for gongs in the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) annual prizegiving.
They will join 43 other nominated businesses, which will be considered for 11 awards, at a ceremony at the Playfair Library in Edinburgh on Thursday.
The Dunkeld business is up for scale-up business of the year and Remake Scotland for the community award.
David Groundwater, from the FSB, said both “represent some of the most exciting small businesses and self-employed workers across Perth and Kinross”.
Small and medium businesses across Perth and Kinross support 33,550 jobs and account for 95% of all registered business with 6,280 businesses – a number that has been growing year-on-year since 2013.
Fiona Gilbert, development manager at Remake Scotland, said: “Remake Scotland is delighted to be shortlisted for the FSB Community Award. As a community reuse charity and social enterprise based in Crieff, we have big plans to increase our impact on the local circular economy and community regeneration.”
She said the business’s ambition was to make Remake Scotland a place of opportunity for learning, life skills and livelihoods while being an open and inclusive hub for support and community development.
“As recycling and singleuse plastics reach crisis point, Remake offers a mix of creativity and common-sense environmentalism,” she said.
