Accountancy firm welcomes ‘positive response’ from city
EXPANSION: Firm hopes Dundee move will boost its 16,000 client list
Scotland’s largest independent accountancy and business advisory firm has signalled its commitment to the Dundee community as part of its operation in the city.
Johnston Carmichael opened a base in Dundee just weeks ago and says it is “here to stay.”
Sir Pete Downes, former principal and vice-chancellor of Dundee University, has been appointed as a senior adviser to support the expansion.
Restructuring director Jenn Stewart said: “We have harboured an ambition to have a presence in Dundee for some time, so this is a symbolic milestone for us.
“Dundee has been growing vastly over the past few years and the opening of the V& A has brought a fantastic vibe to the city.
“Across Scotland, we have 16,000 customers and we are confident that being able to provide local coverage in Dundee will attract more high profile clients.
“We have assembled a bespoke team of four here whose skills reflect the strong industry presence in the city such as tech and life sciences.
“We have had a very positive response from the business sector and we are focusing on our clients and adding value to their growth strategy.”
The company is also recruiting and is inviting suitable candidates to approach the firm which recently took on 40 students at various levels including school-leavers and university students on year-long work placements.
Ms Stewart said: “People are at the core of our business and we are very keen to support young people.”
The company is also looking to play a role in the community and has sponsored an Oor Wullie statue as well as being gold sponsors of the Kiltwalk, while CLIC Sargent is the chosen charity of the firm. Johnston Carmichael says that any approach by local community groups who are seeking support will be considered.
