Stars coach delighted to sign ‘complete player’

-

Kitmart Dundee Stars have made Canadian forward Elgin Pearce their 17th signing of the close season.

The 27-year old joins from Idaho Steelheads.

Head coach Omar Pacha was pleased to bring in another player that will bolster attacking options.

Pacha said: “Elgin has been on our radar now for a few weeks and it was one of those situations where we were patient and finally got him. We are really excited to have him.

“We were looking for a guy in his position to bring offence, have a good shot and to be good around the net and we found that in Elgin.

“He is a guy that knows where the net is and he has scored a lot of goals in the CIS.

“He also had a good career in the ECHL and was up and down in the AHL as well.

“He is going to add skill and a bit of grit but also he is a guy that is a complete player and we are just delighted to have him.

“Drydn Dow was crucial in getting this deal done and he was able to provide a great reference for Elgin. That just shows we have guys all helping each other.

“Elgin can play in any situation and I know he can do really well in his first year in Europe.”

Elgin said: “It is a new chance for me. I really don’t know what to expect but Omar and Drydn have been very welcoming and I am just excited to get started.”

The British Colombia native began last season with the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars before joining the Steelheads in the East Coast Hockey League, where he made 58 appearances.

Pearce, who will wear the No 7 shirt for Stars, recorded 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) for Idaho. During his time with the Stars, he scored a lone goal in five matches.
