It’s one game at a time for Forfarshire

Leask says winning today is all that matters

- By David Kelso

Forfarshire all-rounder Michael Leask is refusing to be drawn into the mathematical side of his team’s surge towards their first ever top flight title.

Leask and Co head north to face the seemingly doomed Aberdeenshire today, knowing that victory over the basement boys would make it highly unlikely that chief chasers and champions Grange could catch them with only two further rounds of fixtures to go after this weekend.

But the Scotland star insists he will leave the calculations to others as he will be focusing 100% on what happens within the ropes at Mannofield.

Leask stated: “To be honest I am really not sure of all the equations as to what we need to do to make sure of ending up on top of the table.

“All I know is that if we take each game as it comes and make sure we keep on winning, then we will achieve our aim.

“I am not worrying about how many matches have still to take place, the approach is the same wherever or whoever we are playing.”

Grange, meanwhile, will be given no favours by Scottish Cup finalists Heriot’s in the capital derby at Raeburn Place.

Pro Wihan Lubbe makes his final appearance of the season for Arbroath before heading home to South Africa.

Lichties officials have made it clear they would welcome him back to Lochlands with open arms.

Arbroath are on home turf against Stoneywood-Dyce – and honorary president Gary Burnett said: “Wihan has been a fantastic asset to the club and has contributed massively both on and off the park. We sincerely hope he will come back next year.”

Elsewhere, there are two other allEdinburgh affairs with every player praying for a let-up in the weather.

Carlton square up to RH Corstorphine at Grange Loan, while Stew-Mel welcome Watsonians to Inverleith.
