- First round ties for Violet and Newburgh

The draws for the first and second rounds of The Macron Scottish Junior Cup were carried out at Hampden yesterday and it has thrown up some intriguing ties.

Only two clubs from the area have got first round ties, Dundee Violet face a tough trip to Kilwinning Rangers while Newburgh are at home to Whitburn.

In the second round, the tie of the round is arguably between the current leaders of the Super League North and South as Carnoustie Panmure travel to Fauldhouse United.

Of added interest is that both clubs are heavily involved with raising money for mental health charity Back Onside.

Last season’s semi-finalists Lochee United are on the road once again, this time to Aberdeen to face Hall Russell United.

Tayport face a long trip to take on Girvan while Broughty Athletic are also away at Glasgow Perthshire.

Dundee North End and Downfield are both at home – the Dokens face Newburgh or Whitburn while the Spiders face Greenock.

Forfar West End travel to Glasgow to take on Maryhill and Kirriemuir Thistle head north to face Maud.

Scone Thistle entertain Lochee Harp at Farquharso­n park while their Perthshire neighbours Luncarty travel to Ayrshire to face Largs Thistle.

Premier League South Thornton Hibs were one of the last teams out and face a Fife derby at home to Rosyth while Kennoway Star Hearts are at home to Larkhall.

The draw involving the local clubs is as follows:

First round (September 14) – Kilwinning Rangers v Violet, Newburgh v Whitburn.

Second round (September 28) – Girvan v Tayport, Scone Thistle v Lochee Harp, Lochore Welfare v Brechin Vics, Glasgow Perthshire v Broughty Athletic, North End v Newburgh or Whitburn, Maryhill v Forfar West End, Kirkcaldy & Dysart v Saltcoats Vics, Maud v Kirriemuir Thistle, Fauldhouse United v Carnoustie Panmure, Largs Thistle v Luncarty, Kennoway Star Hearts v Larkhall Thistle, Kilwinning Rangers or Violet v Bridge of Don Thistle, Blairgowri­e v Stoneywood Parkvale, Downfield v Greenock, Forfar Albion v Bathgate Thistle, East Craigie v Nairn St Ninian, Burghhead Thistle v Lochgelly Albert, Thornton Hibs v Rosyth, Hall Russell United v Lochee United.
