Early morning inspection ahead of sold-out Summer Carnival

-

Perth Racecourse will undergo an inspection this morning ahead of its sold-out Summer Carnival.

Up to 10,000 racegoers are expected to flock to the popular Fair City course for the annual event.

Perth Racecourse’s record-breaking season continues as the fixture sold out almost two weeks ahead of the meeting.

It is the second time this season that one of Perth’s major meetings has sold out well in advance, with Ladies Day in May also attracting a full house after all tickets were purchased some weeks before the event.

Staff are hopeful the capacity crowd will be able to attend the event and are to conduct an inspection of the course at 8am. Showers are to be expected throughout the day.

Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse chief executive, said: “Everyone at Perth has been looking forward to Summer Carnival immensely, especially since the final tickets were sold almost two weeks ago.

“It’s brilliant news not only for the racecourse but also for the town and wider region’s economy that capacity crowds are being attracted to our major events, such as Summer Carnival and Ladies Day.

“What we can’t control of course is the weather, and that has been the challenge for many UK racecourses over the past couple of weeks – Perth has been no different.

“Total respect goes to my whole team for the shift they have put in this week.

“We are just hoping that mother nature is kind to us and allows everyone to experience a safe and enjoyable Summer Carnival meeting.”
