Kelty aim to continue perfect start at Colts

-

Barry Ferguson takes his Kelty Hearts side to Broadwood Stadium to take on Cumbernauld Colts this weekend, looking to maintain their 100% start to their Lowland League campaign and keep the pressure on leaders Bonnyrigg Rose.

Hearts will be full of confidence after their Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup win in midweek against Annan Athletic on penalties and are expected to have the same squad.

A late penalty for Auchinleck Talbot in last weekend’s William Hill Scottish Cup first preliminary round tie means that Dundonald Bluebell head to Ayrshire today for the replay.

Manager Lee Dair has brought record scorer Stuart Cargill back to Moorside from Lowland League side Kelty but he isn’t eligible for the replay.

John Smith, who scored the first goal last weekend, joins the squad again from the Under-20s.

It is primarily a cup weekend for the region’s East of Scotland clubs with eight in Qualifying Cup action.

Kinnoull, who have hit the ground running in the league, welcome Edinburgh United to Tulloch Park in the first round.

Manager Alan Cameron is without Jordan Kinnon through injury and Fraser Morrison is working but otherwise has a full squad to choose from.

St Andrews United face a long journey to take on Dunbar United at New Countess Park and manager Andy Brown will be looking for his side to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Leith Athletic.

Brown has a number of players with sore joints after playing on the 3G surface at Peffermill and the Saints boss may be forced into changes but expects to have a full squad.

Oakley United face a tough ask as they travel to take on Bo’ness United at Camelon’s Carmuirs Park due to work being done to Bo’ness’s Newtown Park ground.

Oakley manager Stewart Kenny is without Halpin, Stickler and Runciman through injury.

Jeanfield Swifts will face a tougher ask at home to Broxburn Athletic than they did last week at Coldstream, where the Perth side won 9-1, but Swifts boss Ross Gunnion is looking for the same result and that is progress to the next round.

Glenrothes have had a 50-50 start to their East of Scotland league campaign with two wins and two defeats including a 2-0 win at Tynecastle on Tuesday.

Glens manager Barry Cockburn will be looking for a continuation of that form as they face Craigroyston at Warout Stadium. Cockburn is expected to have the same squad available that travelled to the capital.

Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts are three points clear at the top of Conference A and manager Lee Duffy will be looking for progression in the cup against Tweedmouth at Ballast Park.

Duffy should have the same squad available as beat Stirling University in midweek.

Burntisland Shipyard were well beaten by Lochee United last week in the William Hill Scottish Cup and this weekend sees them travel to face Dalkeith Thistle in the second round of the Qualifying Cup.

Grant Brough will be looking for a better performance from his side and is expected to have the same squad available.

Crossgates Primrose have not had the best of starts to the Premier League campaign and sit bottom of the table.

This weekend sees them travel to take on First Division side Ormiston who have had a similar start with just two points from five games.

Alan Campbell has a full squad available and is expected to make a few changes for the game.

In a fixture rejig in the East of Scotland League Premier Division, Hill of Beath travel to Penicuik Park to face Penicuik Athletic.

The Haws have won one, drawn one and lost one of their Premier League fixtures while Penicuik have a 100% record.
