Sinbad on the lookout for young shipmates for this year’s panto

-

Perth’s favourite pantomime dame, Barrie Hunter, will take the lead in this year’s festive show.

The actor will star, write and direct Sinbad at Perth Theatre later this year.

An appeal has now been issued for young performers to get on board with the production, which runs from November 30 until January 4.

Rehearsals will get under way in October.

Barrie said: “The young company is always a vital part of the Perth panto, and never more so than this year when they will have the chance to play pivotal roles at the very centre of the story.

“Obviously, we don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say that fur is fun, and where there are tails, there are tales.”

Locals aged nine to 13 can register their interest by emailing sgrieve@horsecross.co.uk, including name of parents or guardians, address, date of birth and contact number.

The deadline for entries will be 5pm next Friday, and successful applicants will be contacted on September 5.

They will then be invited to a follow-up audition on Sunday September 15.

The story will revolve around Sinbad and her quest for some yuletide peace in her home town of Pertheopolis.

The show also features an appearance from the Tayside Beavers, who have recently been given protective status – a nod to the Scottish Government’s recent decision to safeguard the region’s wild beaver population.

This year’s panto is supported by Thorntons Solicitors and Estate Agents. Tickets are on sale at Horsecross Art’s website and at the venue box office.
