The summer holidays may be at an end, but there is still plenty of fun to be had in Fife as the autumn season gets started. Here we highlight some of the events taking place in the kingdom over the coming months.

Out and about Doors Open Days August 31 to September 15

Venues across Fife that aren’t generally open to the public open their doors to visitors.

Discover the interior of a 1940s house in Cupar, some of the county’s most historic churches or join a guided tour of Dunfermlin­e’s sheriff court.

Outdoor theatre Sea Hames St Andrews Botanic Garden September 14

The Byre Theatre presents this extraordin­ary promenade performanc­e in the beautiful surroundin­gs of St Andrews Botanic Garden as part of the Autumn Festival Open Day programme.

Sea Hames is a celebratio­n of Orkney’s Festival of the Horse, ancient traditions of ploughing contests and arcane rural ritual.

Kids Eaten Byre Theatre, St Andrews September 21

Eaten is a show for everyone aged 6+ about food, eating and being eaten. Lionel the Lion has just eaten a human for lunch.

Unfortunat­ely, he was so hungry that he didn’t chew his food and now his lunch is still very much alive and well in his stomach! Discover the fascinatin­g world of the food chain as a strange friendship develops between the eater and the eaten.

Jason Byrne: Wrecked But Ready Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermlin­e September 28

Jason Byrne returns with his brandnew show, Wrecked But Ready. After 23 consecutiv­e years, Jason is wrecked but is as ready as ever. No two shows are the same, so expect all the usual spontaneou­s fun from one of the best comedians on the circuit. Kids

The Tiger Who Came to Tea Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy, October 10-11

The smash-hit musical show, based on the much-loved book by Judith Kerr, has oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos.

John Cooper Clarke Carnegie Hall, Dunfermlin­e October 20

The original “people’s poet” who captured the ethos of the punk era comes to Fife with The Luckiest Guy Alive, which promises to be a cultural tour de force not to be missed.

Spooky fun Haunts of Hill of Tarvit Hill of Tarvit, Cupar October 26

Meet the roaming spirits of Hill of Tarvit who only show themselves around Halloween. Make sure you’re prepared for any scary encounters and bring a lantern to help fend off the ghostly characters from the past. There are two events, one for adults (16+) and one for older children (age 10-16).
