There is so much happening in Perthshire over the coming months – here are a few highlights to help you plan your autumn diary.

Art

Morrison – Solo exhibition The Strathearn Gallery, Crieff September 21 to October 20

One of Scotland’s best-loved artists, John Lowie Morrison, returns to the Strathearn Gallery for a solo exhibition this autumn. The artist, also known as Jolomo, continues his longstandi­ng relationsh­ip with the Crieff gallery with his latest show Croftscape­s & Flowers.

Expect signature canvasses with bold, vivid colours and textures that capture the colours of Scotland.

This is a must-see exhibition of new work by one of the country’s most internatio­nally renowned and sought after contempora­ry painters.

Bookmark Blair Blairgowri­e October 4, 5 and 6

A hidden gem of a book festival, Bookmark Blair has an impressive bill for such a young event. Authors including Ali Smith, Louise de Bernieres, and journalist Melanie Reid will all make the journey to the Perhshire town for Bookmark, which has attracted patronage from Fiona Armstrong and Magnus Linklater since it was establishe­d in 2012.

The festival’s motto, “Go with the Flow” evokes the river Ericht which flows through Blair as well as the flow of ideas that the event brings to the town.

Family Enchanted Forest Faskally Wood, Pitlochry October 3 to November 3

Don’t miss the Enchanted Forest this year, the stunning light and sound show transforms Faskally Wood into a magical celebratio­n of the skies above the forest. Be sure to get in quickly if you want to secure tickets for this popular event has sold out in previous years.

Theatre Faith Healer Pitlochry Festival Theatre October 17 to November 11

Brian Friel’s masterpiec­e Faith Healer is often funny, passionate and tender as it explores the story of Francis Hardy and his unreliable gift of faith healing. Starring George Costigan of Gentleman Jack, Line of Duty and Happy Valley.

Comedy Susie McCabe Perth Theatre October 26

Susie, the fastest-selling act at Glasgow Internatio­nal Comedy Festival, has reached the big 4-0, so she has decided to leave cynicism behind with a new, positive outlook.

Spooky fun Spirit of Scone Scone Palace October 25 to 31

Get set for some spooky fun as the Spirits of Scone fright-fest returns to the atmospheri­c grounds of Scone Palace for the fourth year.

Visitors are warned to “enter only if you dare” to experience an eerie evening tour.

Watch out for things that go bump in the night at this event, which is not suitable for young children or big kids with nervous dispositio­ns.
