An assault case against Broughty Ferry Euromillions winner Gillian Bayford has been continued to allow for further investigations.

Bayford, 47, denies assaulting her former partner Gavin Innes on three occasions between August 1 and October 31 2017.

Appearing before Sheriff Lorna Drummond at Dundee Sheriff Court, she spoke only to confirm her name.

A defence agent acting on behalf of Bayford said the case was not prepared for trial and asked the sheriff for an adjournment.

Depute fiscal Gavin Burton said mobile phone footage still needed to be investigated, and this could not happen until the device was released by the defence.

The charge alleges the attacks took place at an address in Adam Drive, Dundee, and in the village of Auchterhouse in Angus, while the pair were in a relationship.

Bayford is accused of repeatedly striking Mr Innes and punching him on the head and neck, resulting in him being injured.

Sheriff Drummond agreed to set a new intermediate diet for November 14 at which Bayford is ordained to appear.

The new trial date has been set for December 5.

Bayford and her former husband Adrian hit the headlines in 2012 when they shared a record-breaking EuroMillions win of more than £148 million.

They separated 15 months later, after nine years of marriage.

The former hospital cleaner – who lived in Haverhill, Suffolk, at the time of the lottery win – then returned to Scotland with the couple’s two children.

She built up a property portfolio and bought café Sugar and Spice in Arbroath, which shut three years ago.

After splitting from Mr Innes, Bayford married Brian Deans, 38, near St Andrews in August last year – six years to the day after landing her lottery jackpot.
