Thumbs-up given to latest step along the way for link road
The Cross Tay Link Road moved closer to being built this week as councillors approved a preapplication report.
Following a string of public consultations over the past fortnight, Perth and Kinross councillors voted in favour of progressing the plans at Wednesday’s planning and development management committee meeting.
Information on the £118 million infrastructure overhaul was on show at public drop-in sessions in Luncarty, Scone, Coupar Angus and Perth, where residents had the chance to quiz council officers and lead consultants Sweco.
The events were intended to provide an update on how the design has developed following earlier public consultation events and talks with landowners.
Outlined in the second phase’s report is the bridge itself, as well as connections to the A93 and A94 with roundabouts and a road into Bertha Park.
The next stage for the project is to lodge the formal finalised planning application for the project.
Council officers are expecting this to be submitted in October.
It will include the full environmental impact assessment, which will be available to view online and at various council venues.
The results of the consultations, which gathered feedback, will also be submitted with the planning application as part of the required preapplication consultation report.
Meanwhile, the compulsory purchase orders required to take ownership of areas affected by the project are also expected to be published in October.
