-

DJ Laing East Region Cup First Round Lochgelly Albert took their first points of the season last weekend with a 3-0 win over Sauchie Juniors at Gardiners Park.

Today sees a much tougher assignment for Andy Healy’s side as they are once again at home, this time against Super League South side Whitburn.

Healy welcomes back Craig McGuinness and Dan Thomson to the squad but is without Ryan McGuinness, Andrew Stark and Alan Falconer.

Rosyth face Super League North side Scone Thistle at The Fleet Grounds and the Fifers can add Barry Sibanda to the squad that beat Syngenta last weekend but Tam Hampson and Declan Pierce are both missing while Neil Lawrie is suspended

Jamie Gill and Dayle Robertson are suspended while Tom Whyte faces a late fitness test.

Brechin Vics travel to Tayport looking to lump the pressure on the Super League strugglers by dumping them out of the East Region Cup.

Second Round

Super League South strugglers Lochore Welfare will renew rivalry with Blairgowrie at Davie Park.

The Fife side took their first point of the season at Thornton Hibs last weekend and will be looking to progress to the third round. Boss James Adam should have the same squad that faced Thornton.

Blairgowrie will fancy their chances against Super League strugglers Lochore Welfare at Davie Park and a performance like last weekend’s at Coupar Angus will certainly see Mark Brash’s side in with a good shout.

Brash is without Gordon Pirie and Dale Corrin.

Forfar Albion manager Steven Stewart has just the one doubt for the trip to face Bo’ness United Juniors at the Xcite complex with Robbie Gallacher carrying a knock but the Albion boss expects to have a squad of 15 available.

Downfield face a Linlithgow Rose side that are still trying to find their feet in the Junior ranks. The Spiders should have too much for the visitors and manager Paul Marr has no injury concerns meaning he takes the same squad in to the game that drew 1-1 with Forfar West End.

One of the most interesting ties of the round is at North End Park as Dundee North End host Broughty Athletic.

North End thrashed Tayport last weekend and will be full of confidence as they take on a Broughty Athletic side that were disappointing in a 4-0 defeat at Lochee United.

Hearts go in to the game in a confident mood after beating Pumpherston 1-0 at home last time and expect to have the same squad available.

West End boss Daryl McKenzie will have the same squad available for the trip to Kennoway Star Hearts that drew 1-1 at Down field last weekend but will probably make changes to the starting line up.

Kirrie Thistle are without suspended central defender Stuart McKenna for the visit of Violet to Westview Park, otherwise manager Darren Scott hopes to have a full squad available.

Violet manager Andy Heggie has moved quickly following last week’s heavy defeat to Premier League North leaders East Craigie and added Ryan Kinnear from Tayside Fire Brigade as well as re-signing Barry Wilson from last season’s squad. In addition Heggie has brought in Jake Grady on loan from St Andrews United.
